Kai Si Ming


This is a recipe every kiwi kid made in home ec when I was in school. As always, measurements are loose and you should adjust to your preferences.

Serves 4

1 package of gardein ‘beef’ crumbles
1 yellow onion, diced
1 c rice
4 tbsp oil
1 tbsp curry powder
1 cube of fake chicken stock
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp vegan worcestershire sauce
2 c water
10 carrots, thinly sliced
half a head of cabbage, chopped

Heat oil in large, non-stick pan on med-high, add ‘beef’ and fry till brown. Add onion and cook a few minutes till soft. Add the rice, curry, soy sauce, chicken stock and worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for a few minutes. Add the water and vegetables, cover, cook till rice and veggies are done.
